Disney has always been a market leader in terms of managing queues and understanding the psychology of waiting lines.
Activity Description
Disney has always understood that you need to give customers something to do whilst waiting in line for their attractions and rides. So in the days when people had to stand in line they ensured these queues had entertainers like jugglers and acrobats to entertain them and the queue itself was designed to give tantalising glimpses of what was to come on the ride itself. Nowadays the interactive waiting line is an extension of this.
