What are your order winners?

Overview

The operations you and your friends buy goods and services from clearly have order winners (OWs) that appeal to you all – otherwise you would not buy from them.  This activity gets you to identify what these OWs are, and how these influence your behaviour.

Activity Description

On your college campus, there are likely to be a number of different food outlets.  These might include a large cafeteria or food court, a coffee shop, a fast food takeaway, or a retail shop selling sandwiches and snacks.  Whatever they are, for each of them:

  • identify what their OWs are.  If you are not sure, ask your friends why they go to a particular outlet.  Is it cost, speed, flexibility, or what?
  • Identify when you go to one rather than another.  What are the circumstances that influence your choice?
