Overview

This activity explores the part of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply’s (CIPS) website devoted to supply chain management news and issues.  It is a useful source of online resources, industry related articles and case studies.

Activity Description

The CIPS home page is divided into three sections – News, Analysis and Opinion.  Check out each of these as follows:

  • News section – the articles here will focus on current issues in business and industry.  For instance, in March 2018 there was an article about why KFC had to close 70% of their stores because they had run out chicken.
  • Analysis section – these article are like Operations Insights or case studies of how one particular firm manages its supply chain.
  • Opinion – these articles generally discuss trends and issues in the field.
