Making the Model T Ford and the BMW Mini

Overview

In this activity you will watch two videos. The first shows how Ford assembled the original Model T motor car.  The second shows the BMW production plant at Cowley.

Activity Description

Ford organised the first moving assembly line to mass produce motor cars, whilst BMW use the latest systems and technologies to produce modern cars
Consider:

  • What were the Model T’s order winners?  What are the Minis?
  • What kind of tasks are performed by workers on the line at Ford?  What kind have been automated by BMW?
