The Ferrari PitStop
Overview
This activity explores the concept of ‘competitive advantage’.
Activity Description
Formula 1 motor racing is one of the most competitive sports in the world. Each of the teams competing in the nineteen race competition spend between £30 million and £180 million each year. Success depends on great car design, world class engineering and a great driver. But all races include pit stops, which can result in a car winning, or losing, a race. The weblink below shows the Ferrari team preparing for and undertaking a pit stop.
Consider”
- What does it take for this team to ensure it is competitive (let alone have any advantage)?
- How many people?
- What equipment?
- What else?
By the way, this video is from the Melbourne F1 race in 2013.
