Be your own project analyst
Overview
Throughout your time as a student you will probably be asked to work in groups to produce a specified output. Every time you do this, it is a project. This activity gets you to analyse how well the projects you have done have been organised and managed.
Activity Description
First of all think about a piece of group work that has gone well – not because you got a high grade but because the team worked cooperatively and deadlines were met. Consider the following:
- What contributed to the success of the project? (Clear objectives, agreed time plan, right mix of people, good leadership, frequent meetings, good communications, or whatever)
Second think about a piece of group that went badly. Consider the following:
- What contributed to this poor performance?
- At what stage was it clear the project was going badly?
- What could have been done to get the project back on track?
- Was corrective action taken? If not, why not?
