What factors contributed to the European interest in exploration?
This image is of Columbus’ ship the Nina which was an example of a recent innovation in ship design: the caravel. A caravel could carry supplies for up to a year, required only a small crew, could operate in shallow water, and had lateen sails that allow it to sail windward.
