Neolithic Revolutions: Modifying the Environment to Satisfy Human Demands

Blog Roll and Web Links

Reading anthro blogs is a great way to keep up with the latest developments and discoveries in the field, to get a sense of the most important debates and controversies and to find out what anthropologists think about world events. There are literally hundreds of blogs maintained by professional anthropologists from all the subfields (a quite comprehensive list can be found at http://anthropologyreport.com/anthropology-blogs-2014/).

  1. ArchaeoBlog (http://www.acagle.net/ArchaeoBlog/).

Active since 2004, this blog covers news about archaeology and archaeological findings, including Neolithic sites around the world.
  1. Catalhoyuk Research Project (http://www.catalhoyuk.com/).

This fifty-year field archaeology research project in Turkey focuses on a very large Neolithic proto-city settlement. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, postings also consider issues and dilemmas associated with site conservation.
  1. Archaeology Southwest (https://www.archaeologysouthwest.org/).

A Tucson-based non-profit whose focus is on supporting low-impact research, promoting preservation of archaeological sites, and sharing news of recent findings in the U.S. Southwest. Active blogging, e-news digests, and social media posts are all available on this site.
  1. Stone Archaeo News (http://www.stonepages.com/news/).

A European blog that covers “the most recent archaeological meetings, digs, and breathtaking discoveries.” Though its primary interest is on reporting prehistoric and megalithic monuments, it has plenty of material on Neolithic sites in Europe.
