1. Examine the Concept Map closely. Why is each stage essential to the development of the next stage?

2. What would this Concept Map look like if descriptive science had never been superseded by the mathematization of astronomy and physics?  Why could the next stage—the application of the New Science to industry—have not taken place without the mathematization of astronomy and physics?

3. The Concept Map suggests that the development of the New Science in the West happened in a linear fashion.  Do you think in actuality it developed in this way?    Regardless of how the New Science developed, is this Concept Map still  a useful thinking tool?
