About the speaker:

Sam Sommers is associate professor of psychology at Tufts University in Medford, MA. He is a social psychologist whose research examines interracial interaction, the cognitive effects of group diversity, and the intersection of psychology and law. His first book, Situations Matter: Understanding How Context Transforms Your World, written for a general audience, was published in December 2011 (for details: www.samsommers.com). Sommers has won multiple awards at Tufts, including the Lerman-Neubauer Award for Outstanding Teaching and the 2009 Professor of the Year. He has testified as an expert witness in criminal trials in five states and blogs regularly on the psychology of everyday life for Psychology Today and Huffington Post.
