Relationships between Adults: Marriage, Civil Partnerships, and Cohabitation
This chapter examines the historical development and significance of marriage in the creation of modern family law, and identifies the formalities required for entry into both opposite-sex, and same-sex marriages. This chapter was first published in March 2018 and reflects the law at that time. A new version is being prepared for publication in 2022.
