Go online and gather several local crime news stories (the more local the better). How can sociological theories of crime be used to explain the behavior of the subjects in those reports? Now look at national and international crime news. Can the same sociological theories be used to explain large national and international criminal offenses? For instance, can strain theory explain a shoplifting at a local store, as well as a large-scale corporate crime?
