Transcript Area

So, in this question we’re being asked to find out who represented the claimant who was found working in a halal butcher shop in a judicial review case from 2010, and we’re told it considered Section 94 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act of 2000. So we've got quite a lot of information there to be able to start searching to find this case.

So, we'll go off to our Cases tab on Westlaw and we'll try, first of all, by looking for any cases that involve a Halal butcher, and we'll see what we can find. So, we've got 12 cases that have come up in this and we know that these are in date order; so the most recent is at the top, 2018, going all the way down to a 1996 case at the bottom. And we know that the case that we want is from 2010. So, we can go to 2010 on the list here, and we can see that this is the only case that has the words “halal butcher” in it from 2010. We know that it's in the Administrative Court, the Queen's Bench Division, and it's cited here as a judicial review case. So, we've got the Crown on the application of Amir and the Secretary of State for the Home Department. So, it's looking good.

Let's just go through and check to see that it mentions Section 94 that we're also told about in the question. So, we can go down, have a look at the judgment. And we can see here that it considers the operation of Section 94 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2000. So this is the case that we want. Specifically, we are asked to find out who represented the claimant and we get this at the top here under Representation. So, Mr. Jafferji appeared on behalf of the claimant in this case; the Queen on the application of Amir, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department.
