Chapter 13: Nationalism

Conduct some online research and identify three major cases of inter-group (“ethno-national”) violence in different countries. Try Google Scholar: https://scholar.google.com/, the Strauss Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies: http://www.clarku.edu/departments/holocaust/, and the Association for the Study of Ethnicity and Nationalism (ASEN): http://asen.ac.uk/.

a.) Look at each of the major theories of ethno-national conflict discussed in the chapter, and determine which sorts of factors would, according to each theory, likely contribute to the conflicts.

b.) Deepen your research by investigating whether these factors were operative in each of your cases. Then consider the implications of what you find for each of the theories (including the limitations of the implications of your case analysis).
