1. Students will be able to identify the economic strategies of Indigenous Peoples of the northern plains.
  2. Students will understand the nature of the economic and social changes that colonization began to force onto Indigenous Peoples on the Plains and West coast.
  3. Students will gain insight into the ways in which change was first resisted as the process began to accelerate in the closing years of the eighteenth century.
  4. Students will learn how the Pacific trade with Indigenous People operated differently from trade east of the Rocky Mountains.
