- Students will understand the context that led to establishment of the Indian Claims Commission of 1970.
- Students will understand how oral history is used in court cases.
- Students will learn about self-determination and the federal responsibility to consult Indigenous people.
- Students will learn about the important role of the court system in protecting Indigenous rights.
- Students will understand how the federal government came to recognize Métis Aboriginal rights and rights to self-governance.
- Students will learn about Indigenous people and the Canadian justice system.
