Chapter 10 Learning Objectives

  1. Students will gain an understanding of the response to attempted assimilation across Canada.
  2. Students will learn something of the overwhelming pace of change that confronted Indigenous leaders in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
  3. Students will learn about the Indigenous understanding of the Selkirk Treaty as well as disruptions attending the establishment of the Selkirk Colony as settlement began in the Canadian West.
