4.    Understand the factors influencing the decline of religion in human societies.

5.    Understand the theory of Émile Durkheim and how he applied it in his study of suicide. 

6.    Determine the difference between independent and dependent variables.

7.    Understand the difference between quantitative and qualitative sociology.

8.    Understand some of the research methods underlying quantitative and qualitative sociology.
