Extinction

Visit to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and click the “advanced” search button. Use the search filters at the left of the page. Pull down

  • “Taxonomy” and select plants and animals.
  • “Red List Category” and click off “Vulnerable,” “Endangered,” and “Critically Endangered.”
  • “Land Regions” and click the region that includes your home country.

Read and Discuss

Choose any 10 species you identify and read their assessment to figure out what is causing their threatened status. Pair with another student to exchange your findings.
