Viewpoint |
The indictment of African leaders by the ICC, as well as the exercise of universal jurisdiction for the same purpose by European prosecutors, led the African Union to create a third (criminal) chamber in its regional human rights court. Several of its members withdrew from the ICC Statute and there was significant hostility against the ICC and international criminal justice institutions. |
