This website shows pictures, contains sound samples, and provides brief histories of all the instruments. This can be used as a listening guide or a study resource.

 

Ancient FM (http://www.ancientfm.com/) provides continuous exposure to Medieval and Renaissance music. This channel lets you know what you’ve heard and what’s coming next and can help listeners become more familiar with the music of earlier eras performed in various ways, including with and without period instruments.

This source is excellent for refreshing historical knowledge and providing more context for the cultural, and specifically musical, developments discussed in this chapter of the textbook.
