Students examine an HIV-prevention program in Thailand and consider methods for condom promotion, particularly among sex workers. There is also a follow-up case.
Students learn about the Canadian bilateral aid organization’s approach to maternal and child health, specifically the use of conceptual frameworks and causal models. They explore how these conceptual frameworks and causal models might shape a maternal and child health intervention in Mali.
Cole et al., HIV Prevention in Maharashtra, India
Students learn about a program of peer education for HIV prevention in India. They are asked to consider the complexities of the process of transitioning the program from a nongovernmental organization to a government run model. There is also a follow-up case online, entitled The Avahan India AIDS Initiative: Managing Targeted HIV Prevention at Scale.
This case, which takes place in a fictitious town in Virginia, is designed to help students think about leadership around infant mortality in the United States. It would be best for older students who have some experience with workplace dynamics and politics.

Students consider the complexity of building political alliances to support reproductive health legislation in Guatemala in the early 2000s.
