Instructions

In this experiment, you will be shown nine letters in a 3 x 3 array followed by a tone that will indicate to you the row of letters (top, middle, or bottom) that you are to report.

  1. At the beginning of each trial, you will see a fixation ‘+’ which you should focus on. When you are ready to begin a trial, press the space bar.
  2. You will see a 3 x 3 array of letters like the one below, which will be followed by a tone that will indicate which row of letters you will need to report. A high-pitched tone indicates you should report the top row, a medium-pitched tone indicates you should report the middle row, and a low-pitched tone indicates that you should report the bottom row. Click on each button in the example below to hear the tone that cues you to report that row of letters.
