1. Choose three of the lesser known civil rights movements in the United States and research the following: time period, underlying goals, and methods. Examine the degree to which these movements were successful, and whether their methods aided their success; if so, how?

2. Examine federal court cases brought by the U.S. Justice Department from the past 10 years relating to voter ID laws and identify the main reasons given as to why they were invalidated or allowed to stand.

3. Search for information concerning the Standing Rock Reservation water protection efforts, and examine the footage of the violence against protestors in comparison to footage against civil rights demonstrators in the 1950s and 1960s.

4. Search for information regarding the FBI’s COINTELPRO from the 1960s and 1970s and examine the ways in which the program challenged some civil rights groups.
